Los Angeles County handles over 26,000 trauma patients a year, including almost 2,000 pediatric trauma patients. The system sees a diverse population with varying levels of injury patterns and severity. Expanding the care from professional rescuers to be trained and willing civilians will increase access to trauma care and decrease the time to first intervention.

We believe identified gaps in pediatric trauma, changing prehospital care, and community resiliency will be served by integrated approaches to trauma training and preparedness. Training community members to be empowered to act as first care providers (FCPs) will allow for faster response to initial injury.
