EMT Course Challenge

The EMT Course Challenge is for nurses, physician assistants, and physicians who wish to obtain certification as an EMT. According to California state regulations (Title 22), these select health care providers' licensure permits a challenge of the EMT exams to obtain EMT certification. The Center for Prehospital Care will help facilitate the following requirements for those who wish to challenge the course to successfully complete:

  • 6 unit exams
  • 1 practice final exam
  • 1 final exam
  • EMT skills verification

These items must be completed within 3 months of enrollment. Following the completion of these items, the provider will be allowed to test the cognitive National Registry Exam.

The required materials for the course include:

  • Emergency Care and Transportation of the Sick and Injured, 11th ed. by Jones and Bartlett, et al
  • UCLA FISDAP EMT
