Through a relationship between the UCLA Center for Prehospital Care (CPC) and two Los Angeles community colleges, students who successfully complete some of our programs are eligible to receive academic credit.
- Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and Paramedic Education courses
- Paramedic Preparation Course
Enrollment for College Credit
To be eligible for academic credit, students in our EMT and Paramedic programs must also be enrolled into West Los Angeles College (WLAC). Enrollment is accomplished by completing a WLAC Enrollment Application and Add Permit. This process can be completed while in attendance here at the Center for Prehospital Care. The cost for college credit for the EMT program is $45. The cost for the Paramedic program is $360.
Designated dates for WLAC enrollment for college credit purposes will be announced in each class. Students must not miss the enrollment date as students have only one opportunity to complete the Enrollment Application and Course Card in class.
College credit for our Paramedic Preparation course is administered through West L.A. College. Enrollment for college credit is handled in class, and there is no additional fee.
Any student that previously enrolled in any of the Los Angeles Community College District's 9 colleges and has a "Fees Due" designation on their record will not have the application for academic units processed by WLAC until any accounting issues are resolved. In the event of such a circumstance, the student will be notified by the WLAC Administrative Assistant via telephone or email. Any discrepancy must be resolved within 10 business days of notification in order to maintain a student's eligibility for academic credit.
WLAC Withdrawal Policy
Students may withdraw from a course by completing a form at the West Los Angeles College Admissions Office by the published date. Students withdrawing from a course prior to this date will receive a full refund of their WLAC service fee for the course(s).
Upon the successful completion of an eligible course, UCLA will submit grade information to WLAC. Official transcripts will be available from WLAC approximately 60 days after the completion of the course. Eligible students can request their official WLAC transcripts by submitting an official request to WLAC.
