Fundraiser kicks off Ryan Sorek Scholarship

Two dozen friends, family, and colleagues of UCLA Paramedic program graduate Ryan Sorek took to the ice in his memory Saturday, March 26, in a charity hockey match to raise funds for a scholarship in his name. The event brought an initial contribution of $3,500 to the scholarship fund.

Ryan Sorek graduated from the UCLA Paramedic Program in 2002, and passed away too early, in 2007, as a result of an on-duty exposure causing lymphocytic myocarditis. He was 25.

Ryan's family and friends, in partnership with Face Off With Cancer, have established the Ryan Sorek Memorial Scholarship, helping support tuition costs for future students in the UCLA Paramedic program.
