Ryan Sorek was a 2002 graduate of the UCLA Paramedic Education Program. Ryan sadly passed away too early, in 2007, as a result of lymphocytic myocarditis acquired via an on-duty exposure. He was 25.
To celebrate Ryan’s memory and his passion for paramedic care, his family and Face Off With Cancer have established the Ryan M. Sorek Memorial Paramedic Scholarship, which will help support future paramedic students at the UCLA Paramedic Education Program.
Kicking off the scholarship, Ryan’s family invites you to participate in Battle of the Badges – a charity hockey game on the ice at the Staples center on Saturday, March 26. All EMS, fire, and law enforcement personnel are welcome to participate in the game as skaters or goalies with a contribution of $150 – which includes staying for the L.A. Kings game following the event in our exclusive event box. Additional spectator tickets in the event box are also $150, and those wishing to watch just the charity game are welcome to join us at no charge.
