Mitch Sekine Memorial Scholarship Fund

Michihito “Mitch” Sekine was a graduate of the September 2005 UCLA-Daniel Freeman Paramedic Education Program. Mitch was an extremely hard working and compassionate young man. He was known as an exceptional medic and co-worker who proudly served the community for 5 years as an EMS provider, first as an EMT then as a paramedic. Tragically, Mitch Sekine passed away on August 3, 2007, as a result of a fatal traffic collision.

To honor Mitch’s memory, his family and friends established The Mitch Sekine Memorial Scholarship Fund to help support the education of future paramedic students at the UCLA Paramedic Program, Mitch’s beloved alma mater.

The Fund will award a scholarship to a student in each UCLA-DFH paramedic course starting with the September 2010 class. The recipient of the scholarship will be a candidate that exemplifies Mitch’s characteristics and qualifications; the recipient will be a private (non-sponsored) student with a demonstrated financial need and who meets the selection criteria as established by the Selection Committee.
