In memory of Tom W. Olofson, the Tom W. Olofson Family Foundation has established a scholarship in his name. Mr. Olofson was a successful business executive, investor, and philanthropist.
Tom came from humble beginnings. He was awarded a full basketball scholarship to the University of Pittsburgh allowing him to pursue a degree that he couldn’t otherwise have dreamed of obtaining. He ultimately retired as a senior business executive leading the sale of a global public company with thousands of employees.
One of his greatest joys was his philanthropy and ability to give back to others, whether in larger or smaller endowments. Everyone is equally special, and reflects Tom's values and priorities in life, and his hope that the recipient can make the world a better place.
Tom’s life truly showed that anything is possible by taking advantage of opportunities, combined with a strong work ethic. In his spirt of giving back and paying forward, this Scholarship will be awarded to a person of character, humility, passion for others, whose circumstances might not lend to otherwise being able to afford the program.
The Tom W. Olofson Family Foundation Scholarship offers two scholarships for the traditional paramedic program - a full tuition scholarship covering tuition and fees as well as a partial tuition scholarship of $2,000.
The first Tom W. Olofson Scholarship was awarded in January 2019 and is currently being offered to private students applying for the traditional Paramedic class. Students interested in the Scholarship must complete the Scholarship application as well as the Paramedic application. To apply, login to our student portal and click on “My Applications.”
Best wishes to paramedics everywhere.
